The contractor who knows what is behind the wall before he quotes it.

Mike Murphy is a licensed Michigan builder and a certified home inspector. That second part is why our estimates hold up. He reads the wiring, the framing, and the moisture before he prices the job, so the surprises come out during the walkthrough instead of halfway through demo.

Why this matters

Most change orders are not surprises. They are things nobody looked for.

A contractor who has never inspected a house prices what he can see. Cabinets, tile, fixtures, labor. Then demo opens the wall and there is knob-and-tube feeding the dining room, or a bearing wall where the plan said partition, or twenty years of slow leak under the shower pan. Now it is your problem and your money, mid-job, with no leverage.

Mike inspects houses for a living. He carries InterNACHI certification #NACHI20042907 alongside Michigan builder license #242500021. When he walks your place, he is reading it the way he would read it for a buyer who is about to spend everything they have. What he finds goes in the estimate before you sign, not in a change order after.

How it goes

Four steps, and you always know which one you are on.

01

Walkthrough

Mike comes out, looks at the actual space, and looks behind it. Because he inspects homes for a living, he catches the wiring, framing, and moisture problems that turn into change orders later.

02

A real number

You get a written scope and a price, with the line items visible. If something is a genuine unknown until demo, it gets called out as an unknown instead of buried in the total.

03

The build

Permits pulled, work sequenced, one licensed builder accountable for the whole thing. You know who is in your house and what is happening that week.

04

Final walkthrough

We walk it together, punch list included. Nothing gets called done because the calendar says so.

Not a big pile of reviews yet, because we are not a big shop. It is Mike Murphy and a crew he actually knows. Every one of these is a real neighbor in Macomb or Oakland County.

  • Mike did a fantastic job updating my guest bathroom and master bathroom, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Mike was very professional, from start to finish. He provided a written estimate of both cost and time, started when he said he would (and finished a day early!), treated me and my home with respect while he worked (so easy to get along with!), dealt with the unexpected surprises (that always seem to crop up during a remodel) professionally and transparently, used competent and qualified subcontractors (and only when needed), and completed all of the work conscientiously (as if it were his own home). I'm so glad that I hired Mike, he's everything you hope for in a contractor, and I'll be sure to hire him again when I have a need!

  • Mike remodeled our living room and did a fantastic job. We were so happy with his work, demeanor, kindness, and professionalism, that we often find ourselves walking around our house brainstorming ideas for how he could remodel each room. Mike went above and beyond to make sure our living space was usable and clean through the project.
